Saving tree expanded

#1 Post by GregT » 14.03.2014, 18:35

I like the folder tree showing on the left panel when I open FC. Is there a setting for saving the drive or folder expanded so the next time I open FC it is expanded. Example I want C: drive expanded one level when I open FC. Thanks for any info, GregT

Something like "Remember tree state on startup" ... would be nice.

I was thinking more on the line of the expanded section(folder, drive, etc.) being included in the "Save Settings". GregT

When I go to Main Menu, View, Tree the tree shows on the left panel. As long as the tree is showing when I close FCXE the tree continues to show when I open FCXE. Is this not what you're experiencing?

I want the tree to stay expanded at a drive or folder(what ever view I save settings at) when I close and reopen. GregT

This is what I've done:
  1. Main Menu, View, Tree (tree shows on the left panel)
  2. Main Menu, Tools, Settings... Start program, Start/TEMP folder tab, Start with following folders (set your desired paths, select OK
  3. Position splitter bar as desired
  4. Position FCXE as desired
  5. Main Menu, Tools, Settings... General, Settings, uncheck Auto save settings - on exit, select OK
  6. Main Menu, Tools, Save Settings
  7. Close FCXE
  8. Open FCXE
FCXE should've opened with the exact same layout that you closed with. It will open this way all the time now until you save settings again with a different layout.

Just note that when Auto save settings is unchecked, when you make a change that you want to keep, you'll need to manually save settings again with the same layout set. In FC2009b there was a feature called layouts so you can save different layouts and quickly go back to them when needed. This feature hasn't been included in FCXE at this time.

I hope this is what you're looking for.

This works only if I select a folder in C: drive in the left pane as start folder with the focus being on said folder. I want FC to open left pane C: drive expanded with focus on C: drive showing the folders of C: drive in the right pane. Something like PowerDesk Pro had called "Save Settings Now". If I expand C: drive in FC left pane with focus on C: drive and do a "Save Settings" then close and reopen FC C: drive is focus but not expanded in left pane.

Yes I see what you mean. I don't know how to keep the tree expanded.
