Plugins Not Working

#1 Post by wrbird » 22.02.2014, 00:56

I've installed a couple of quick viewer plugins that aren't working properly. Excellence to view .xls files and listdoc to view .doc files.

When viewing an .xls file the window states, "Excellence - v1.20f - Total Commander plugin".
When viewing a .doc file the window is blank. I have the setting set as ext="DOC"

Can anyone help me to get these viewers setup properly?

Thanks,

Wayne

What OS are you using?

What's the FC version?

What Viewer settings are you using?

What Plugins settings are you using for the Quick viewer (if they are separate from the Viewer)?
Do the plugins have higher priority?

Windows 7 64-bit
FCXE Build 653 Donor
Same viewer settings as yours with plugins taking priority

I have a number of plugins that are working, including one that works for .xlsx files.

What plugin do you use to view .doc and .xls files?

The best you can use is the Total Commander x64 ULister plugin
which uses the Oracle Outside-in viewers.
With this you can view almost any file format.
Windows 11 Home x64 Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3447)
Everything Version 1.5.0.1372a (x64), Everything Toolbar 1.3.3, Listary Pro 6.3.0.73
FreeCommander XE 2024 Build 906 64-bit donor

Thank you Horst.epp. I'll give that a try when I get back to work on Monday.

I'd like not to use a plugin for my office files, but I'm trying uLister right now.
Anyway, the ideal is to use FC XE x64 on your win7x64, with 64 bit plugins (not available for neither listdoc or excellence).
However, listdoc plugin works fine (no extensions specified) for me with FC XE 650 and 653 x86; excellence doesn't.

Thanks joby_toss. Now I know it's not just me not setting something up right for excellence. I will remove the extensions I specified for listdoc and see if that works for me. I'm looking forward to trying uLister, hoping that works. Let me know what you find.

Oh, man, does uLister work nice! I might keep this one! :)

The only downside is that you have to register with Oracle to download the additional libraries (I did it the honest way because it's just the way I am, but there are methods to bypass that)... and those weigh about 45 MB more in your plugins folder.

So I'm trying to get uLister to work. I unzipped the plugin in my plugin folder and then went to FCXE in the viewer settings added it, but it's not working. What am I doing wrong?

uLister readme wrote:6. Installation
Download Viewer Technology: vw-8-3-7-win-x86-32.zip(or latest version if available) or vw-8-3-7-win-x86-64.zip(for x64 plugin version) from
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middl ... 97435.html , you need accept license and register.
And copy "redist" folder to plugin folder.
Note: latest Oracle Viewer Technology (as of this writing) is 8.4.1.

You are using FC XE 653 x64, right (check it in Help/About menu)?
And can you post a screenshot of your Viewer/Plugins window?

No I'm not using FCXE 64 bit, that's my problem. I'll get that set up and see what happens.
