When I mark some or more files / folders and try to deselect one of them by a left mouse click nothing happens or another item is deselcted. How could I correct it?

For me, it works exactly like in Windows Explorer (I don't use NC-Mode): Ctrl+LMB adds to selection/removes from selection.

Thank you joby_toss.

Yes, but it doesn't work in FC, I do not know why. I assume, LMB means left mouse click.

Yes, in Win it works like usual. I do not use NC-Mode either.

Strange... do you use any security suite? If yes, try disabling it temporarily and see if it works then.

Comodo Firewall and AviraAntivi I use. It stays the same when they are closed.

Then try to re-download the portable version and try again with the default settings.

Well, I should have had this idea. Yes, a new one works properly.

I copied the new files to FC overwrting existing files, but the problem stays.

The problem seems to be in freecommander.ini file and that is not overwritten.
What are your selecting options?

I have these ones:

I just tried your settings (without restart) and it works...ah, it is "Use Windows colors", I have to activate it to avoid the problem, strange, I would not have supposed that.

Many thanks.
