Using FC while copying / moving?

#1 Post by Dirk » 26.01.2014, 00:42

Often while copying / moving FC is not accessible anymore? How could I make it accessible?

Are you using the XE version? If so, open settings, go to file/folder operations > general > and use option "Use FreeCommander" for delete, copy and move. It's not completed yet, so some features, like remaining time is not available, but it's stable when copying in background.

Thanks Dreamer,

Yes, I do use XE, portable.

It already is set like that. The only difference (to "Use Windows") are the differnet options provided by FC? Is there a move option, which at first copies the item(s) completely and then deletes the source items (instead of doing it like Windows does)?

If you're using FC's own method for copy/move files, you can just minimize the copy/move window or use this option:

But no matter if you're minimizing that window or not, FC should be accessible. Try this:

Many thanks joby_toss,

Hmmm, I guess, I am missing anything. When I copy, this window occurs: http://i.imgur.com/erchS4i.png

I have set:

So, why doesn't the FC window appear?

don't use Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V (these shortkeys are always calling windows copy)
use F5-key
(win10pro x64) - (latest FCXE x64 portable)

Try using the splitter buttons or F5/F6 keys instead of Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V or drag&drop (FC's own method wasn't implemented for those yet).

Edit: @alf5000 - almost at the same time :D

Ah yes, I understand, not working with drag & drop and standard Win shortcuts at the moment. And using the C+V/C means no access to FC during the processes.

Many thanks.

One more hint - use the splitter copy/move buttons together with "auto-minimize" option.
