Default system ZIP file handler

#1 Post by clanman » 22.09.2021, 14:43

By default File Explorer is the default ZIP file handler. I have installed 7-Zip and can make it the default handler.

Given it is possible to make apps other than File Explorer the default ZIP handler has anyone made FreeCommander the default ZIP handler and if so how?

It has no benefit to make FC the default zip handler
as it will not open the archive if given as an argument.

I disagree. Most command line options open a folder in one form or another. These options could be used to treat compressed files (zip, rar and so on) as folder paths. This way I see the current options could be used.

Other file mangers like Total Commander can be configured to open a zip file given as command line argument.
This is not the case with FC and therefore its useless as I said.
