How to acheive a fresh install ?

#1 Post by JoaquinViggo » 08.07.2021, 17:24

I am using the latest version of FreeCommander, XE 2020 Build 810a 32-bit public, and it is deathly slow. I've given up trying to get help here to resolve it, so am instead seeking a means to totally uninstall it, in the hope I can re-install and start over - hopefully with a little faster operation.

I went through the Windows uninstal process, and then deleted everything in my various system folders that had "freecommander" in it, everything in the registry that had "freecommander" in it, etc, etc, etc.

I then re-install the latest version and .......... no change.

Again, I've been here for over 6 months asking for help to resolve it and I know that wont happen. So, I accept that the only path forward is to somehow uninstall it and start over, or .... get a different application.

I run "Windows 64 bit professional".10.0.0.0.1 192.168.1.254

Actual public version is 840

https://freecommander.com/en/downloads/

You can try to use the portable zip version.
Unpack to a folder (not the restricted program files (x86)).
So you can test with more than one FC in different folders with different settings.

You didn't say what's slow, if each operation/function is slow for you - yes probably "get a different application" is the option for you.
The antivirus program can slow down other software. If you use one - try to test without.
