Re: Odd behavior when closing tabs
One of the more recent FCXE updates seems to have fixed this. Thanks.

613: File DEselection now working as expected
Hi, I just noticed some unexpected behavior in FCXE regarding selections when working in the files list. Suppose I am working in a folder containing 50 files. When I first enter the folder in FCXE, the status bar at the bottom tells me there are "50 Object(s)", giving their total size, and...

Odd behavior when closing tabs
Hi, I use the tabbed browsing feature of FCXE a lot. I've noticed a problem with the way the program behaves when closing tabs. If I have multiple tabs open, and close any but the leftmost one, the program switches focus to the next one to the left, displaying the associated folder's contents in the...

Re: 604 - error when resizing columns
Thanks. Sure enough, I created a custom columns set and made it first in the list of custom views, and the problem went away.
Still, nice to know the problem's being addressed.

604 - error when resizing columns
Hi, In the donor preview release 604, when I attempt to resize any of the columns in the file-list panel, I get "An error has occurred in the application" message (no matter which column I am resizing or in which direction). If I click "continue" the error message pops up again.....

Re: 600- high CPU usage
Darkwing's Process Explorer screenshot is similar to what mine looks like when the CPU usage spikes... the TID values differ, of course, but there would be two threads with non-zero CPU use, the "TraceProcess" one taking the majority. Once, I even saw a third thread using some CPU time. Th...

Re: 600- high CPU usage
As for the auto-save settings, I thought that option only saved the settings on program EXIT Yes, I mean "auto backup settings". Oh, okay. I'll give it a try. The problem's been hard to pin down, since I can't point to any specific thing I've been doing with FCXE when the high CPU usage b...

Re: 600- high CPU usage
I'll try disabling those options, but I'm doubtful they would have any effect. I'm not even doing any work on the network (most of the time my desktop PC is the ONLY active computer on my home LAN). As for the auto-save settings, I thought that option only saved the settings on program EXIT (at leas...

600- high CPU usage
Hi, With FCXE release 600, at some point during my use of the program, the program's overall CPU usage will inevitably spike to 60% or more and stay there, no matter what I am doing within the program. I have a quad-core processor, and if I look at a usage graph in e.g. Task Manager, two of my cores...

Enhanced filename selection for Rename function
Hi, I like how the file rename function can be set up (in settings/file and folder operations) to "select only file name", e.g. selecting only the part before the final "period" (if any) but not the period itself or the extension following it. I prefer not to use the "Rename...

595: Accessing networked computers via IP addresses
Hi, I often have to work with networked computers which do not use a workgroup, and thus, do not appear in the list of "named" networked computers, either in FreeCommander or Windows Explorer. I need to access them via UNC paths using their IP addresses, e.g. "\\192.168.0.100". I...

Re: FreeCommander hides compatibility modes on Windows 2008
It does this under Windows 7 64-bit as well. It doesn't matter if I just right-click on an EXE file, or shift-right-click... either way, if I select "Properties", the "compatibility" tab is missing options for Windows XP, 98, etc. All i get is various flavors of Vista, plus Serve...

594 - customize toolbar dialog
In release 594, if I right-click the toolbar and select "customize action toolbars", there appear to be separate button-size settings for each of the default toolbars. However, the button-size setting for the Address Bar doesn't do anything for the Address bar... instead, it changes the bu...
