Thats expected behaviour and the same in other file mangers to.
No one misses such a function for archives.
Create your file outside of the archive and then use copy or drag and drop.

Re: x64 installer?
I use the x64 version (Donor build 652) and have no problems with it on daily usage.
I don't miss an installer at all.
Such a tool is only necessary for mass installations
or users which are not even able to expand a Zip archive.
And such users should better stay with Windows Explorer.

There is some registry entry to allow UNC patch as working dir.
You have to search gogle for it.

Re: Accelerate deleting with FC XE?
Use the following but change the path according to your installation of FastCopy:
C:\Tools\FastCopy\FastCopy.exe /auto_close /open_window /cmd=delete %ActivSel%
You may change some of the parameters to better fit your needs.

Using /C and full pathname of a file in command line

IF I add the /C parameter to the command line it reports an error about an illegal directory. After closing the message it works as expe...

Re: x64
I use the x64 version only and I'm very satisfied with it.
No major problems found so far.
What I don't like is the automatic setting of ACLs for my user account
if I try to enter a protected dir.
It should offer to open it as administrator (with UAC enabled) and not set an ACL.
