excellent Tip, Rob.
I was not aware of that. Shall try that feature next time when I have something to compare.

I guess the 2-3 tools given on this site are not Unicode compatible, so the separate each code and then compare. That is not useful.
Thanks.

609 exe has 3 files older than the ones installed previously
ijl15.dll Bulgarian.lng Slovenian.lng In the 609 public preview release, the above files that were already in my system were newer than the ones 609 tried to install, so I got a warning message and skipped overwriting existing files. You might wish to check why you happen to put older files in the n...

Re: AptDiff download link not working
http://www.code-tools.com/comparetwo.htm download Something is wrong. Aptdiff claims full Unicode support. But when I save two docx, files as .txt files in UTF-8 encoding, it still shows junk character in the same, and not the Unicode letters (Hindi language/ Devanagari script). I don't know what I...

Any free tool to compare .doc or .docx (ms word files)?
The two tools mentioned for fc (winmerge and aptdiff) seem to compare plain text files only.
Any free tool that would compare MS Word 2010 doc or docx files?
Thanks.

AptDiff download link not working
on the page, http://www.freecommander.com/fc_utilities_en.htm it is mentioned that -- Another freeware tool is AptDiff. AptDiff enables you to visually compare text and binary files. You can define AptDiff in FreeCommander: C:\Program Files\AptDiff\aptdiff.exe /text /f1 %FileCompare1% /f2 %FileCompa...

Re: feedback: fc 601 works fine on w7-64 bit and w8-32 bit
I have not upgraded from w7, but rather made a fresh install of w8 in a separate partition. Now my pc is dual boot w7-w8. That doesn't answer your question, but my suggestion is - DO NOT upgrade, rather do a fresh install like me. If you upgrade and find that some software or device is not working i...

Re: feedback: fc 601 works fine on w7-64 bit and w8-32 bit
Some false alarm issues that came: - while copying file in new setup, the name of file was becoming "letter - Copy.txt" from the original file named "letter.txt". I was surprised because my previous setups were naming the copied files as "letter_2.txt", "letter_3.t...

feedback: fc 601 works fine on w7-64 bit and w8-32 bit
I installed "Windows 8 Enterprise Final Retail 32bit" 2 days ago. Downloaded and installed fc 601. Even used the settings files and fcstart.ini file of w7 Ultimate - 64 bit that itself were copied from w7 Ultimate - 32 bit. And it worked well, perfectly seamlessly. No issues at all. So, I ...

Re: what is fccontextmenu64 in systray
rightclick on systray icon and exit.
I guess it will come back when you rightclick on fc window the next time.
It is odd that 20 MB RAM is being used by this icon as shown in task manager.
Thanks.

Re: when do we get 64 bit fc?
I really don't know any of such issue. glad that Marek knows and understands them. no urgency because firefox, thunderbird, chrome are also in 32 bit and have no plans currently to go 64 bit. ie is one up in typical perseverance of MS that they have 64 bit, but my w7-64 bit has an ie-32bit and also ...

Re: when do we get 64 bit fc?
there is no problem of any kind whatsoever.
Still, task manager in w7-64 bit shows freecommander *32 bit, and its files are saved in program files (x86). That reminds that it is a 32 bit app on a 64 bit o.s.

Re: back forward buttons on top toolbar now showing folder n
yup that did it.
in my installation, "Use internal popup menu" for history icon was not set to anything. That was somehow blank. I set that to $FcPopup_HistoryFolders as you told, and it is showing history correctly now.
Thanks.

In the detail view you can right click on the column title (other than "Name") for the same context menu as free space. wow, much better than MS Explorer :) Can I somehow assign Keyboard-Shortcut to "$FcPopup_ShellNew"? (on my notebook with touchpad I'm a keyboard-junkie) Alread...
