Re: Initialize file rename by a single-click on the target file

Thanks, I'm glad for confirmation, but sad that it wasn't user error on my part.

( H for Hari, as in Isaac Asimov? just rambling, sorry....)

Re: Initialize file rename by a single-click on the target file

I may be off base here, as I often am, but I think maybe this is affected by how you have your "Select Files" configured. Do you have Hot-Tracking enabled? Hot-tracking definitely seems to affect my ability to click a file to rename it. As long as I haven't configured to Open With Single C...

Re: Problem with *Forum* Search function

Marek, thank you, Google search is great.

Maybe this computer is possessed by demons, today I tried the Forum Search with the same terms I was complaining about, and got lots of hits. So I don't know what was going wrong.

But having Google is a really great feature, so thank you again.

Thank you Alan, for fixing that.

I guess I snagged the wrong link off the site in too much hurry

Problem with *Forum* Search function

There seems to be something broken in the search engine. Many (maybe most?) searches give either incomplete or NO results. For example, I was looking for the following thread, which I had remembered reading (and finally found a copy I had saved to my hard-drive) http://www.forum.freecommander.com/vi...

Re: Any way to use Wildcard in MutiRename "Search & Replace"?

Great! Thank you, W4tch3r. I can see I'm going to have to get more flexible in my thinking, and experiment with patterns. My mind doesn't bend in that direction, I'm only used to setting up named variables in a script (visual basic and AviSynth, which is based on Python). And you know, when you get ...

Re: Any way to use Wildcard in MutiRename "Search & Replace"?

Karol, Thank you, that does work. I have this situation --- I saved a lot of forum pages to my hard drive as mht and htm files. The boards that use phpBB software have changed their Post Titles to include a dot symbol where there used to be a dash. like this: FreeCommander Forum • View topic - Wildc...

Any way to use Wildcard in MutiRename "Search & Replace"?

I feel really stupid right now. How do I use wildcards "*" and "?" in the MultiRename Search For box? I have filenames that I want to change one single character in the middle of the name, and I haven't been able to figure out how to make this work. The rename window just closes ...

Re: Additional file attributes (beside name, size, type ...)

If by "two-column view" you mean two panes, then yes, it will have two panes. it looks different in the screenshots because the "splitter bar" is so narrow. I've taken a peek at the beta forum just to see what they are discussing, and the released alpha is still very raw. My pers...

New download link for some Guides for FC version 2009-02

Last summer, I made three simple tutorials to configure FC version 2009-02 Interface, Toolbars/Favorite Tools, and Colors. Maybe you can still get some use out of them, even if the next generation of FreeCommander is right around the corner..... I put them in a 2-mb zip file, and here is the downloa...

Re: Additional file attributes (beside name, size, type ...)

If you haven't done so already, take a look here http://www.freecommander.com/fc_beta_en.htm to see screenshots of the next generation. Looks really good, doesn't it? < drool > I know it will be many months before a final version is released, but donors are eligible to get the alpha/beta of the new ...

Bigun, sorry to be so long getting back to you. I had some trouble finding those old files. Now, three guides in a 2 mb zip file, to configure Interface, Toolbars & Favorite Tools, and Colors. download from http://www.mediafire.com/file/mxd344mrz2e/FreeCommander_Some_Tutorials.zip I hope you fin...

geoffyates, all help files available here:
http://www.freecommander.com/fc_languages.htm

English version not updated since 2005, you can try newer help versions in other languages and use Google Translater or BabelFish to translate --- paste blocks of text into the translater's window.

Re: Show File Size

I will upload again and post back new links, probably tomorrow.

Meanwhile, you can also get the file size in the "tool tip" popup when you hover the cursor over file name
menu Settings >> View >> checkbox for "Show Files Tooltip"

Re: Show extension in separate column (not like file_name.ext)

pc131, I guess I was having a bad memory. I must have been thinking of some other file manager (I trialed several different ones before choosing FreeCommander.) I'm sorry for giving bad information  matera, I use huge fonts :D AND large DPI. But I do often use an Extentions or FileType column,...
