First you must be sure your freecommander.ini is writeable. FreeCommander has Viewer (F3) and QuickViewer (Ctrl+Q). Try to deactivate (if active) the option "Use same settings for viewer and quick viewer" under Settings-Viewer. Now open one text file with F3 (Viewer) and go to Options-Sett...

Try to deactivate the option "Use blocking transfer..." under Settings - File/folder operations - Drag&Drop.

The size is saved automatically per tab.Is there some way to save the thumbnail size setting so XE doesn't revert back to the previous thumbnail size? Tools/Save Settings does not do it.

Go to "Settings:Column profiles" and edit your profile (default profile if you have nothing changed): deactivate "Autosize for 'Name' column".

Specify exactly what you mean with "open": double click on the file, ENTER, open from the context menu?
