I can't live without details and therefore the horizontal-view is perfect!

Nobody knows, what you've done before the installation and like FLiER wrote, a file which is in use can't be deleted. Even if FreeCommander is closed the files in his directory may still not be marked as "free" because of use by windows or a file indexer or .... So do this little thing and...

FreeCommander doesn't need any installation because all needed files are in the "install-folder" (except the settings if you use a multiuser-ini-file). You can use the zip-file at the bottom of http://www.freecommander.com/fc_u3_en.htm and extract the file to a directory of your choice. Yo...

You can define a file-compare-program like "examDiff" or "winMerge" for comparing two files selected in FC.

Your settings are saved in the file "freecommander.ini" and your Shortcuts in the file "freecommander.shc". Normally they are localized in you freecommander-install-folder. You should allways have a safe copy of them. For upgrading you can use the zip.file of the new freecommande...

It works well, try again.
Search for: space
Replace with: space minus space

Settings >>> select items >>> Open ... with single click

Copy your freecommander.shc to the new system and you have all your shortcuts like before.
And copy the freecommander.ini for all your settings.
Or copy the complete freecommander-folder to the new system and you don't need to run a setup-routine.

You can't use the maximized window.
Make a window with almost the full size and FC remembers the position on the second monitor.

F2 is the command for edit a file/folder name. Maybe you've changed it in Extras >>> "Keyboard shortcuts"?

Perhaps extras >>> settings >>> general >>> "Auto save settings" disabled?

with the editor-plugin "synplus" (http://totalcommander.free.fr/synplus.html) you can edit files in the preview pane and in the preview-window. I think with other editor-plugins it's the same.
