How do you change the focus?

This is a widely reported Windows 7 problem

Could you post some link to the description/solution of the problem?

If you have TabHistoryperTab=1, then some Tabs have maybe no history.
You could first try TabHistoryperTab=0.

File Container Tab is a flat list of files and/or folders. File Container save only the links to the source file/folder. You can copy (F5) files/folders to one container from different sources. You can use File Container Tab for your favorite folders.

In the Start Menu popup you can see two items "Programs" - for current user and for all users. Have you checked the two items?

1.2.3 - define your own default columns: Settings - Custom columns. The first columns set without condition is your default set.
4. - Settings - Folder tabs: Close all not locked tabs.....

Chosing multiple files of different types, and clicking enter, does not open all files by the different applications.

Works fine in FreeCommander XE.

What about the TortoiseSVN setting "Show overlays and context menu only in explorer". It should be unchecked.

In release 564 I can define my own extension in "New text file" dialog Shift+Ctrl+N.

I think, you need the line

How about the option for FrC to display the driver letter and/or fullpath in the titlebar?

The old option works in FC XE too:
ShowFullPathInCaption=1

FC has an additional program for showing 64 bit context menu FcContextMenu64. The program does not runs properly on your PC.
You can use 32 bit context menu if you define ShowContextMenu64Bit=0 in the freecommander.ini: http://www.freecommander.com/fc_logchanges_en.htm.

Your "filter" column is not right. Define as filter "*.txt;*.ini;".
You can use many compare files programs, for each extension (filter) other.
