Re: Treat dot & file extension as a separate string [word]
Wouldn't it be easier to select the file, press F2, drag the mouse over the BBB and press Ctl-C?

Re: Making colors stick
After setting a color, custom or regular, be sure to save settings (Tools -> Save Settings). Also, check out the Tools -> Settings (F12) dialog; Select the General tab on the left and check your choice for "Save Settings on exit" As for the encoding, I set colors I like, save the settings ...

Re: Color schemas - cosmetic issues, suggestions
For automatic backup, It would be difficult to know the name of the Color Schema to save if you work with many files. The current settings are already saved as part of the Freecommander.ini file. The only way to prevent losing some settings when loading a new color schema would be to always prompt f...

761 - Color schema resets gridlines
I have selected "Show Gridlines" in the file pane general settings. I have been working with the new color schema feature. Thank you for doing this Marek. Each time I load a color schema, the "Show Gridlines" box gets unchecked. I re-check the box and save settings, but if I load...

synchronization between a local and a network folder is now FAST
I have just completed a file backup using the Synchronize Folders function of Free Commander XE version 760 x64. I am happy to see that the network performance has been greatly improved. What used to take 10 to 20 seconds to update now takes about 1 to 2 seconds. The first time I used Sync in versio...

Re: slow synchronization between a local and a network folder
Of course there is little noticeable slowdown with local folders. Local folders are on FAST hard drives.
The issue is BIG FILES being synchronized over the NETWORK. In particular, folders with MANY BIG FILES.
A simple timing test with a stopwatch will prove the point.

Re: slow synchronization between a local and a network folder
I have noticed the same problem. File sync across the network is much slower than copying a large file.
This has been a problem since File Sync was added to FCXE. I expect it may be related to keeping the progress bars updated.

Re: Error opening Microsoft Office documents from a network drive
You should try creating a shortcut on the desktop by right clicking the FreeCommander icon and selecting "Send to Desktop". Then test if that shortcut works. If it does work, replace the shortcut in the start menu with the one from the desktop. You could also compare both shortcuts to see ...

Re: Matching Folders Feature (Mirror)
Matching Folders Do you have two folders that absolutely have to be identical? Easy Synchronizer can duplicate the contents of one folder in another folder. This action will copy any files in the source folder to the target folder, whether it’s newer or older. It will also delete any files on the t...

Re: "X" icon conflict
Personally I do not have a problem with these icons. The context makes it all clear.
I say leave the close dialog X icons as they are.
For users who don't like the big x in the toolbar for delete, they can change it to something like a trash can icon.

R745 Refresh Server Cache Fails
I have FCXE R745 running and showing my current local network computers (C1 and C2). I then boot up another computer (C3) on the local network. FCXE will not show the new connection to C3. If I use the FCXE internal command Reset Cached Server List (Ctrl-Alt-R), nothing happens. I still cannot acces...

Synchronize files enhancement
I use the file synchronization function very often. It is a great way to back-up files and the implementation is very flexible Some of the folders I am comparing have thousands of files in hundreds of sub-folders. The comparison can take a long time. Also, when I start the synchronization, there can...
