Have you tried Extras->Save settings? Is your folder with settings (the location of the freecommandr.ini you can check under Help->About) writable?

Yes. But you should use, for your own groups, better bigger numbers, say, from 2000.So if I set three buttons to and index of oh, say, 35, then they will toggle each other?
