Re: Freezes on Network Shares

Oh, please, please, Marek, can you add a hotkey to abort the search for network location???? If I try to access \\mycomputer and I accidentally type \\mycomputr then I have to wait for the timeout before FreeCommander unfreezes. So, I type in an address \\mycomputer\c$ and I wait for it to determine...

Re: Freezes on Network Shares

Well, I'm still having this problem. This time, the other computer is on the network and I type the address into FreeCommander's addressbar: \\theComputer\ and as soon as I type the c$ for the administrative share, FreeCommander ghosts white and I cannot interact with it anymore until it resolves th...

Re: Freezes on Network Shares

Here is another scenario: I have a laptop and I plug it in so it is now connected to the network. On my workstation I use FC to open \\mylaptop\c$ by typing the address into the addressbar. FC freezes when I type \\mylaptop and it does not display the \c$ as I type because it is busy negotiating the...

Re: Freezes on Network Shares

Okay, so here's another scenario. I have a network share open in FC and the connection is lost on the remote machine. When I come to FC, the tab to that share is open. If I make the mistake and push refresh then I have to wait for the timeout - 30 seconds at least, all the while FC ghosts to white a...

Re: Freezes on Network Shares

Our MPLS (like a VPN) is down today, and I instinctively typed a UNC address into FC. Of course, since the location is not there, FC turned white and froze up for me for about 20 seconds, being unresponsive until it could realize the location is not available. I am dreaming of being able to push the...

Re: S Button and User Folders Locations

AH - scratch that -
I had to restart FreeCommander for the change to take effect.

It works perfectly.
And now you know how to change your system's default download folder location.

S Button and User Folders Locations

With the latest beta of 692, the "Downloads" Folder was added. So I decided I would change the location of the Windows Downloads folder to my own location If you open Windows Explorer and type shell:UsersFilesFolder then you will see all the user folders. So I clicked on properties for the Downloads...

My Documents shows twice in the S-button

On the Action toolbar, in the S-Folder button, (64bit FC 691), "My Documents" shows twice in the menu for my logged in profile (I'm not talking about the Public profile at the bottom). They are the same destination.

Re: New PDF Previewer

You are quite welcome. I am glad that you've gotten the understanding. FreeCommander is a WONDERFUL application and is so very powerful. I am glad to be a part of this project and glad to help others. Any of the other beta-testers here could have given you the same directions as I have, so I've done...

Re: New PDF Previewer

It's been my setup for a long time like that, because I suppose it was necessary up until now, right? NO - it was never necessary. In Windows, each file type is already assigned a program with which you can open it. You never needed to set these in FreeCommander. In fact, what you did was to set th...

Re: New PDF Previewer

Hmm... It should only launch adobe reader if you view the file in "html mode" - are you using beta version 691? That is the first version with the new functionality for pdfs. You don't NEED any plugins, so don't worry. The Viewer/QuickViewer comes with lots of power already. Furthermore, I still don...

Re: New PDF Previewer

Well! I'm glad we've finally conquered this one! It's a wonderful feature and I'm sure you will make good use of it. Using the viewer works like this. First, the Viewer and QuikViewer are the same thing - EXCEPT that the Viewer has it's own external window and the QuickViewer opens in FC's own panel...

Re: New PDF Previewer

It's a bit difficult, but not THAT difficult. QuickViewer (push F3) is the same as Viewer (push F4) except that the QuickViwer loads inside one of FreeCommander's panels. The Viewer opens as a different window. The purpose of the QuickViewer is to allow you to see the contents of files without havin...
