Re: 840 - Duplicate file finder results illegible when using OS dark theme

Marek wrote: 06.02.2021, 15:20
I can confirm this using high-contrast dark theme.
It was changed in 841.
I'm seeing the same issue in 841 64-bit donor.

Also, the status bar in that window is white on white.

I can send you a Windows theme file if that helps you.

841 - Folder changes when moving file

FC 841 Donor 64-bit Win7

I haven't had enough spare time to generate a 100% STR for this yet, so here is a basic description of the issue:

When two panes are displayed, and the focus in on a file in the top pane, SOMETIMES using the toolbar button to move the file to the bottom pane causes the ...

Re: Help requested diagnosing this issue

We can't test winh Windows 7, but as I said, you can test the other programs and find, where is the problem, just replace Notepad++ with notepad and FC with Explorer and test with the same steps.
Anyway, if you're not sure if it's a FC, Windows, or Notepad++, you can try to reproduce it with FC ...

Re: Help requested diagnosing this issue

Notepad++ 7.8.5

After my upgrade to Win10 (~3weeks ago) I can't do tests on Win7 any more but I'm more than sure that there weren't problems like yours.

Since that version of Notepad++ is over 10 months old, unfortunately, it's like comparing apples to oranges. There have been 7 releases of ...

Thanks. Which version of Notepad++ x32 portable did you test with?

I tested with v7.9.1 and v7.9.2.

Win10 has different windows management code from Win7, so testing on Win7 is likely necessary.

Re: Help requested diagnosing this issue

I agree, it's definitely a bug. Although it's possible, I doubt it's a Windows bug.

Whether or not it's a FreeCommander bug, I'm not certain. I think it's most likely a FreeCommander bug or a Notepad++ bug.

That circles around to your request of another application to use for testing. As I wrote ...

Re: Help requested diagnosing this issue

Given that I am likely the #1 bug reporter for FreeCommander in recent years, I think I'm pretty good at actually reporting bugs, don't you?

This isn't a bug report. It's asking for help getting enough details to report an issue accurately.

I tested using FreeCommander version 840 donor 64-bit on ...

FreeCommander.find.ini gets saved even when auto-save for settings is disabled

840 64-bit donor portable Win7

FreeCommander.find.ini gets saved (including settings for sort columns and column widths), even if auto-save for settings is disabled.

I think this is best to be considered a bug because other settings for sort columns and column widths do not get saved when auto ...

Help requested diagnosing this issue

Has anyone else experienced the issue in which you use FreeCommander to open a file, and then when you close the application that was opened to display/edit the file, the foreground window is no longer FreeCommander?

The issue seems to be quite random, and so it has been very difficult to develop ...

Re: 840 - Some characters not available for searching in Quick Starter

 omg, @Marek the colon (:) really works in the quick filter field of Quick starter
but it works differently than the 'normal' characters.

if I launch Quick starter I usually just start typing to activate the quick filter field - that's brilliant and intuitive.
if I want to use the colon ...

Re: 840 - Some characters not available for searching in Quick Starter

you're correct again, of course it's colon : (I'm not native English!)
and it doesn't surprise me that colon doesn't work in Quick starter search field

In either case, the issue is present in the Quick Search UI's quick filter input field, which searches descriptive text, and not filenames ...

Re: 840 - Some characters not available for searching in Quick Starter

you're correct
BUT the semi-colon (:) is an illegal character for file/folder names so I guess it's more a feature than a bug

It might be a language difference... I've always referred to this character : as a colon, not a semi-colon. Yes, the colon is used after a drive letter, and not within ...
