Re: Dual/one panel (F10) - "split horizontal" state forgotte

I've been in touch with Marek. It's now all straightened out.

And I've installed the latest beta, where the issue has indeed been fixed.

Thanks.

Re: Dual/one panel (F10) - "split horizontal" state forgotte

I did not realize that this bug had now been fixed in a beta version. I HAVE made a donation of 10 euros which should entitle me to beta version access, but don't know where the latest beta version is available for download. I've received no email providing a URL for the beta. What am I missing?? I'...

Re: Dual/one panel (F10) - "split horizontal" state forgotte

Seriously? Nobody else minds that the over/under "split horizontal" view setting is not remembered?? I find it incredibly annoying that if I go back to single-pane view from 2-pane over/under view and close the program, that the next time I open the program and push the "toggle between dual and one ...

Dual/one panel (F10) - "split horizontal" state forgotten

I toggle between what I call "split-screen" and "full-screen" presentations, using the "toggle between dual and one panel (F10)" icon button. And I NEVER use the left/right side-by-side presentation of the two panels for split-screen. Instead I ALWAYS use the over/under two panel presentation, i.e. ...

Re: New to XE. Questions on several settings

Just double click to the right of a tab and it will add a tab to that pane. THAT WAS IT!!! It works! Where is this described? I can't find this in HELP, which only describes Settings relating to tabs (although honestly, the language and terminology is a bit cryptic and certainly assumes you're inti...

Re: New to XE. Questions on several settings

Maybe you're remembering that you had multiple folders open at a time, thereby having multiple taps shown? Perhaps?? I should probably know how this could be done or is possible, but I don't. How do I go about having multiple folders open at a time in one pane, to cause multiple tabs to appear?? Ma...

Re: New to XE. Questions on several settings

I could swear that I initially saw MULTIPLE TABS on the Tree pane after I'd opened several different directories. I could close one or more by clicking on the "x" for each tab. I assumed this was a tabular representation of "history", and once you opened a folder you could then easily and instantly ...

Re: New to XE. Questions on several settings

Thank you very much! A picture's worth 1000 words and that's all I needed to see. Both problems solved. I've now pretty much got it configured as I want, except that I can't figure out what I must have done that suppresses tabs in the Tree viewer. I can click on the title bar for the pane and see al...

New to XE. Questions on several settings

LONGTIME user of FreeCommander 2009.02b. Having a very tough time getting XE set up properly and also getting used to it. Much of the terminology used in Settings is not intuitive (at least for me), adding to my confusion. Two specific problems which are most annoying and therefore most important fo...

Why doesn't RAR file present as a directory, like ZIP?

FreeCommander automatically presents ZIP files as "folders", such that if you select a ZIP file in the Explorer Tree pane its contents will be displayed in the files pane. Why doesn't the same presentation also occur automatically for RAR files, as one would expect it to? Or is it just a setting I h...

Re: Where is "Help" file?

Well, I'll simply say this... I am running Win7 Pro x64, and Help -> Contents works perfectly for me with FreeCommander once I copied the CHM file to the program directory. I haven't actually tested this out on my WinXP Pro x86 system, but I'd be surprised if it didn't work perfectly there as well. ...

Re: Where is "Help" file?

I had the same problem with Vista and Firefox. Works fine now after using the HHReg-utility. Thanks a lot for pointing this out. :) As I described in my earlier reply, all that is required is to simply copy the FreeCommander.CHM file to the c:\Program Files (x86)\FreeCommander program directory. I ...

Re: Where is "Help" file?

Unfortunately it seems not to be that easy. When I download the file, unzip it and open the .chm file, I only get a contents display and an index, but no content. Where is the content? I´m using Win7 64 bit and Firefox as browser. Why aren't you just using HELP within FreeCommander? HELP -> Content...

Re: Where is "Help" file?

Ok... I'm an idiot. I saw the 2-tone blue sentences below and thought they were instructions, not that the darker item in the front of that first line was actually the link to the zip file they were describing. Don't know why it's just not included in the installer along with the other files. Anyway...

Re: Where is "Help" file?

The Help file is in a separate zip file. Not to be rude, but this is no more helpful than the FreeCommander web page itself... which does not provide a download link for the Help file even though it provides instructions on what to do when you get it! The link on the page is for the program install...
