Why does windows 7 stop downloading when the screen is closed? I've recently bought a windows 7 laptop. I wanted to download a game that takes a long time to download. I would close the laptop. It's still on, but the download stop. How can I make it download while it's closed?

I left the UAC "ON" in Windows 7. It really hampers FC performance. I can't copy, move, rename etc. without several popup screens from UAC. In some instances (renames, deleting some folders, etc.) it refuses permission entirely - can't do it! However - and this irks - Windows Explorer can do all ...

I have it running for several months now under Windows 7 RC
Also since a week now, on an official Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bits and on a Window 7 Home Premium 64bit version.
No problems so far.

Some time ago (if i remember correctly) a new program was started as a successor of Freecommander.
This was due to some solutions/ideas that were not possible in the current version of Freecommander.
In fact it would be a completly recoded version.

I would like to know what the status is of ...

I tried to copy yesterday (and today) with CTRL-C and then Paste (Ctrl-V or mouse does not matter).
The first time it works.
The second time it crashes FC 2008.06b
With 2008.06a it was no problem.

I use Vista. The F5 copy does work without any problem.
Copying from 1 tab to another on the same ...

To bad, the latest version still has this problem (version 2008.06a)

No it really is looking at netbios level for other computers and shares in the Treeview.
This is (i think) at the netbios level, since i only can see the pc's that are on the same subnet and not behind another router.

But i try the new one, maybe that is better.

So, i just thought, i try it again with the latest version (2008.06)

If i have the treeview ON, and i 'sit' on a local drive and switch to a UNC path share, then it takes some time to see it. But it is not as slow as it once was.

Yes, i found a workaround to make everything lightning speed :idea: :o

On the left side i have several tabs and also the Tree folder open.
On the right side i have closed on all tabs the Treefolder view.
And now switching on netwerkdrives is really at lightning speed :D

I curcumvent the problem thanks to NetDirBooster who raise the network buffer size. Now switching tab between several network folders is flashspeed ( it often tooks 30sec - 1minute before...)


Hmmm, not as quick as Xplorer2 or Totalcommander, but a lot better then it was.
