Re: Multi-rename with F5, F6 & Search files/folders
Okay, basically you have verified that there is nothing better than what I am already dong. As mentioned I fully understand the ease of renaming a file after the copy/move is completed, but that meant I would need to wait in that folder while the file is copied/moved - which is what I do not want to ...

Re: Multi-rename with F5, F6 & Search files/folders
Your suggestions are appreciated, but that's some of what I am already doing when possible & feasible. The file to be copied is in it's own folder and each file is copied/moved to other folders on other drives, none to the same folder at the same time. A file may look like this: TEXT.TEXT.TEXT.TEXT ...

Re: Multi-rename with F5, F6 & Search files/folders
I have a file in one folder that I need to copy or move to another. I am unable to rename (not allowed by our rules) the original file in the original folder. Those files may have periods in place of spaces and/or upper/lower case that need to be fixed. Presently I do a plain copy or move and then ...

Multi-rename with F5, F6 & Search files/folders
On almost a daily basis I am in need of the multi-rename options page when copying (F5), moving (F6) and within the Search files/folders results. I do not see that the multi-rename feature exists with these 3 tasks. But, I wanted to check-in here first to be sure that I have not missed a setting or ...

Re: Lost files
Thanks for the reply. What happen just does not fit the normal "rules". I can see accidentally hitting delete and accidentally confirming. But, to delete or move hundreds of files without highlighting anything but possibly one file in the present folder, the present subfolders and folders above the ...

Lost files
I was in a folder with well over a hundred files. I started typing to search for a file. Somehow I hit a key combination that deleted hundreds of files in the folder, subfolders and other subfolders one level up from where I was. A small window opened and I saw filenames, larger than 1 GB, flying by ...

Re: Multi-rename character count
I like that idea, sort of what I was picturing in my head.

Re: Multi-rename character count
Thanks for the reply. I kind of thought the same, that this feature would possibly just open a Pandora's Box. Here are a couple of file name examples I'm working with this week:
The_Holton_Signal_Thu__Oct_25__1923_.jpg - I rename this to "1923-10-25 The Holton Signal"
Netawaka_Chief_Thu__May_25 ...

Multi-rename character count
I use the multi-rename feature daily. I use the "Name from x,y characters" and related features a lot. Unless I am missing something, I find myself having to count the characters over and over to find the correct x or y number to use -squinting and pointing with my finger as I count. I envision some ...
