Upgraded to 558 and tree font settings are still not persistent. They are "remembered" in the settings, but you have to go in and click Apply each time you restart.

Extras -> Settings -> Drives -> Show drives as popup button
Works correctly when you first set it, but if you close FCXE and then restart you get the Button Bar again even though Show drives as popup button is still set!

For complex music renaming, including being able to rename based on disc number tags, try foobar2000. For complex renaming, including where you reset the counter for each folder, try Bulk Rename Utility. FreeCommander is a big step up from Windows rename, but it can't do what either of you want ...

I don't know if it's a bug or a deliberate design issue. I've been using a workaround for so long, I forgot about the odd behavior.
I highlight the top file in the list then press SHIFT+END. That gives the behavior one would expect from CTRL+A (selecting all files and NOT selecting "..").
