You guys hit some nails on the head there. That is exact;y why I have stuck with FC, giving Marek my spare beer money and neglecting the rest. I am at home in Free Commander; I can make it my own personal workspace.

Re: ejecting disc
No, it won't hurt anything. Windows mght complain about it, and Free Commander will pop up a message of some sort, but no damage is done.

Re: Color background based on file extensions
That is an interesting suggestion. I think it could be a very useful feature. It could make things easier for those of us with reduced vision.

That's how I picture it

Re: Up one folder instead of opening files
The selection of ... with Ctrl+A can be avoided by one mouseclick anywhere in the panel. At least that always works for me. I seldom have the ... selected; maybe it's the way I navigate.

Re: Beta version for ever?
It takes a bit of time to entirely rebuild a program -- and get it right. You want it good or do you want it fast and cheap -- and shoddy?

No, you have to turn it off manually. Interesting idea, though.

Re: Multi-rename - default to use last settings...
On the other hand, I prefer that the values revert, so that I don't forget to change those that I want to leave as default. For me, that saves a lot of undoing. LOL

Re: Favourite folder list location
lol I see what you mean. Unexpected behavior can be confusing. I have to live with a lot of it; my own computer is highly customized but not the ones at work, or those I visit as a "computer doctor". It makes me grouchy some days!

Re: How to access free commader from folder shortcut
In Settings, Shell menu, under Add "FreeCommander" item to context menu for, check Folders, Drives, and Links (Links should do it for quicklaunch). You have to run it as admin to do this.
There's a thread or two around about making FC the default file manager. That's a little trickier.
