Hi,

I tested the search functionality within excel files and it worked with xls files but not with xlsx.
When I saved the same xlsx file in xls format the text was found.

Version: FreeCommander XE 0.0.0.558
win7x64

I have tested the alpha version of the future Freecommander.
So far it looks good.
I will report any bugs found.
