Many thanks - I've just spotted that this was implemented in 924.
Very prompt, and great support as ever.

Re: Can I have stripe in active panel and have no stripe in inactive panel
Many thanks for the response.
Obviously not urgent. A 'nice to have' rather than a 'must have'.

Re: Can I have stripe in active panel and have no stripe in inactive panel
There isn't a 'Features Request' category in the Donors' sub-forum.
I really wasn't sure whether this was a new feature that I was asking for, or an existing feature that I hadn't understood correctly.
I also assumed (!) that the answer wouldn't be dependent on the version of FreeCommander.

Can I have stripe in active panel and have no stripe in inactive panel
I have set up my active panel to have the stripe color scheme I'd like - light blue / white
However, I would like the inactive panel to be all one color - preferably a lowlight (grey) compared to the active panel.
I've experimented with the various options in Tools > Settings > View > File/folder ...

Gridlines - not change color, but style?
I believe the issue of changing the color of gridlines has been mentioned several times over the years, with no resolution.
Would it be possible to implement alternative styles of lines, even if the color can not be changed?
For example ...

Credit to you, Offpath, for the second post.
I've seen many forums where an OP makes a statement and then disappears from the thread while others waste their time trying to solve what was actually a non-existent problem in the software in question.

Got the latest version now and the button works exactly as I'd hoped - and possibly just a little better too!
Thanks
Walter

Re: "Make file list and save as a file" button
Hi Karol
Thank you very much for the prompt explanation.
Indeed, I am running 685a 64-bit.
I didn't realise when I downloaded my 64-bit version on 19th May that it wasn't quite what it stated here - ' the latest version “FreeCommander XE 2015 Build 685 64-bit donor” '. Latest and 685 are obviously ...

"Make file list and save as a file" button
Hi there
I've been using Free Commander for a couple of week snow and I'm very pleased with it.
However there is one potentially very useful feature that I discovered that I can't get to function at all.
I was customising the action toolbars and I found a button/command named "Make file list and ...

Re: How to Open Folder in Windows Explorer
I also think that one of the reasons that Windows Explorer offers a "open in new window" option is that it does not have the concept of tabs. If you want multiple folders open, or even the same folder multiple times, you have to use multiple windows.
With Free Commander and other tabbed file ...

Re: New user: two early questions
Thanks for the response, joby_toss.

Re: New user: two early questions
Oh well, almost 48 hours and 27 views to date. But no responses.
I guess that means the answers are probably "no" and "no".
Never mind, I think the pros still outweigh the cons.
Maybe, once I become a fully-fledged FC-committed user, I can put these items in to the Features Request forum.

New user: two early questions
Hi all
I've just started experimenting with FreeCommander over the past 48-72 hours and its seems an excellent file manager. So much so that it's on its way to replacing my previous file manager. However I have a couple of queries that I can't find answers to either in the software itself, in the ...
