This has not been working for a while now. In settings-->view-->viewer if I click on viewer or quick viewer, go to the multimedia tab and try to set vlc as the media interface, it doesn't work.

Finally got it to work (For the most part). What I did was uncheck "use same settings for viewer and quick viewer" but I made sure both were exactly the same.
The problem now is that if I choose vlc player, it doesn't work. Even though it's installed, I get the message "Can not find installed VLC ...
