Package Management / Distribution

Hello- been using FreeCommander since Windows XP. Love this software. But I think it might be time to rethink the way FreeCommander is distributed. #1: Stop gating x64 behind "donation". This never made sense to me: a trend to restrict access to x64 back in the days when x64 needed developers to ado...

Re: FC and UAC

I have noticed that the x64 beta installer now asks for elevation during the install process and also successfully launches freecommander as the current user, instead of the elevated user (a common pitfall). I have also noticed that freecommander's internal delete function will call upon UAC if acce...

FC 67x archive bug

One of the releases of freecommander 67_ introduced the following bug: I cannot extract an archive while in single pane view. My best guess is that FC is looking for the other pane's active window address (as a folder to be extracted to) and the operation just fails if the second pane is hidden. dat...

FC and UAC

I really appreciate all the work that has gone into FC, and I have used it for many years. I love the new XE, I love that you're supporting x64, and I even donated so I could play with and test the new features as you released them. I was very happy to see you included an installer for x64 recently-...

Re: Give "elevated" dos box also

This will help http://code.kliu.org/misc/elevate/ Move that to your Windows directory. You could do one of three things with this 1) Figure out if FC has a variable for the current directory and set the "DOS box command specification" to something like: elevate cmd /k "cd fc-current-directory" 2) Cr...

Freecommander and High DPI

Freecommander XE is one of the very few programs that scales well on high DPI screens. It does not, however, scale perfectly. The fonts are a bit blurry. Until this is addressed from within the code, I've found a temporary fix. Find your freecommander executable, right click > Properties > Compatibi...

Re: Column Profiles default sort field

alf5000 wrote:@joby_toss
thanks - but how does that <mask> thing automatically sort the files/folders by 'Date modified'?
It doesn't. The mask is only one of the ways in which you apply a profile to certain folders. There is currently no way to set a default sort by profile- hence my feature request.

Re: Column Profiles default sort field

You can define conditions for each profile at: Tools - Settings - View - Column profiles - Define profile conditions E.g. All subfolders or Folder name <mask> You can find the explanation for the conditions in the Help-file "FreeCommanderXE_chm_en.zip" on the download page at: http://www.free...

Column Profiles default sort field

Currently, if you sort by name then all folders within one tab will be sorted by name. I propose that column profiles have the ability to specify which field is sorted for that profile. For example, I normally always sort by Name, but when accessing my downloads folder I want it sorted by date. thanks

Re: UAC compliance

If I remember correctly, it asked me all the times under Windows 8. Although overwriting a file in c:\program files does not ask for UAC Permissions, but just copying will ask for UAC. By default, Freecommander does not handle the copy/move operations- these are passed off to explorer where things ...

Re: UAC compliance

This is still a problem even in the donor downloads- the installer doesn't ask to elevate and simply throws an access denied error towards the end of the setup when it tries to install to program files. The installer should ask for UAC elevation. Side question- why is there no installer for the x64 ...

Installer is not UAC compliant

The installer doesn't ask to elevate- this should be fixed.

UAC compliance

The installer doesn't request elevation, and thus will fail to install in a properly configured user machine.
