for the complete rewrite, what environment are you considering (WPF?)
And would you consider open sourcing it, so others can volunteer to help out ? I'd willing to spend a little time helping out.

right click context menu for files and folders only default

I am running the same 2008.6.0.329 beta of FC on Win XP Pro x32 and Vista x64. In XP the right click context menu for files and folders shows all the actions for custom addins that are also there in the regular windows file explorer (i.e. 7zip, WinMerge, TortiseSVN, ClamWin, WinAmp, ...).
