Why some files should open atomatically?

In the left panel, every time I move to a PDF, ODT, ODS file, a message opens, asking if I want to download or open the file. What does it mean, and how can I stop it appearing?

Thanks, I found it and it gave me answers to issues no. 1, 4, 5 and 7. I will post a more accurate description for the remains, in single posts.
How could have found the dl page, starting from home?

I went to this page:
http://www.freecommander.com/fc_downl_en.htm
and downloaded the file FreeCommanderXE_setup.zip
installed it, but in the Help/About screen I still read 'build 650'.
Issue no. 5 was solved, the others were not.
Should I go to another dl page?

1. I have FreeCommander opened with two panels, both having the tree and the file list. The right one has the files ordered by name, the left one has them ordered by date. If I press the switch icon (like a white opened book with a double-pointed arrow over it) the order types are switched, too, but ...
