The setting for this is in the search window's own settings under Options and then by checking "open dialog on last used position".

Tab Locking Recycle Bin Error
Tab Locking the Recycle Bin changes the folder to the Desktop upon reopening FC. More info regarding the problem: Problem still present in beta 590. If FC is set to "always show system tray icon" and FC is minimized and then closed via the tray icon, the window will remain in the desired position after reopening.

587 - Window drops down height of taskbar
I use Windows 7 with the task bar on top. Each time I open FreeCommander it drops down the height of the task bar. After a few repeated openings FC's window is half way down the screen.
