The function "compare" compares files from active and inactive window
(see help > keyboard shortcuts), so only different files (no folders) will be highlighted.
This works on my computer.
Try the function "synchronize" if you want to get the differences include subfolders.

Please check the options in Settings > Compare folders. Perhaps different files are not highlighted because they are hidden. Make sure the option "Show hidden files" and "Show system files" are enabled in Settings > View.

After Alt-V Messagebox: the files in the source and target folder are identical.
Had selected My Music directory, then another directory with much of the contents of the compared directory. But when compare get nothing highlighted. Would have expected the missing folders and files to be highlighted ...
