The abbreviation for kilobyte is "kB", not "KB".
Microsoft made the same mistake in the Windows Explorer.
It is such a horrible bug it causes loss of huge amounts of data and makes all the users insane!
"MB" for megabyte is OK.
It is possible to define colors for file types. It is possible to define colors for some file attributes (read-only, hidden, compressed, system).
