Replace Windows Explorer in Windows 7?
Does anyone have any experience replacing Windows Explorer with Free Commander in Windows 7? I have seen the posts regarding the registry changes required for XP, but I'm hesitant to try those in Win7.

Re: Zip files
Power Desk 7 shows zip files as a folder in the left tree pane and when you click on the folder shows the contents in the right pane. Does Free Commander have a similar capability? You can view the contents of a ZIP or RAR file as you do in Power Desk, but to my knowledge you cannot perform a drag-...

Re: programs settings: independent conf. for editor and viewer
For now there is the possibility to set different editors for each filetype but there is no free definition of viewers for special filetypes. (You can use the viewers for text, rtf, picture, media, internet or external plugin). In the new alpha-version you'll be able to define own programs for each...

Re: programs settings: independent conf. for editor and viewer
Great! I am looking forward its release. The "New" FC version is the current released version: 2009.02a You can get it now! Note... Though you are associating a "Viewer", the viewer could be, and usually is, the file-type editor of your choice. It works exactly as you requested,...

Re: Does freecommander replace windows taskbar?
I have seen nothing in the documentation and read nothing in the forum that implies that FC replaces the taskbar. If you feel that the feature would be of importance to other users, you can add your request to the Feature Requests section.

Re: Print a listing of the files in a map
I don't see a menu item or button that totally automates a directory printout. However, you can get the job done from within FC by use of the menu item "Folder | Make folder list" and whatever text editor you prefer. It works quite well.

Re: Is FTP fully functional in 2009.02a?
So I guess it is a BUG, since both methods should have equal behavior. If you choose to report it, would be good idea to point to this thread, so the developers have a complete idea of what we did here. Ice, Thanks for the additional testing and corroboration. I'll write up a bug report and point b...

Re: Initialize file rename by a single-click on the target file
I may be off base here, as I often am, but I think maybe this is affected by how you have your "Select Files" configured. Do you have Hot-Tracking enabled? Hot-tracking definitely seems to affect my ability to click a file to rename it. And... We Have A Winner! Turning OFF hot tracking in...

Re: Is FTP fully functional in 2009.02a?
Hi Wiley, I tested your test case with the drop down list of ftp drive, and it works as it should (at least for me). Thanks Ice, but would you try this...? Set the drive toolbar to "Show | as Combo Box". I like to have the Tree (Alt+T) visible next to my file panes. Try setting that, sele...

Re: Initialize file rename by a single-click on the target file
Try "long" left click. After a full uninstall/reinstall of FC 2009.02a, the problem remains. After some research through the old bug reports, I've discovered that this is not a new issue. Apparently at one time the function was broken, then fixed, then broken again after some number of up...

Re: Is FTP fully functional in 2009.02a?
Well, it WAS too good to be true. At this point, I'm convinced that there is a bug in 2009.02A. When the drive bar is set to use a drop-down combo-box, it does not consistently display the FTP client connections. The effect that I've noted is that the selection of the FTP client is actually performe...

Re: Initialize file rename by a single-click on the file
This can be done with a semi double click. You need to click the same file within about 1 to 2 seconds after the last one. It would be VERY unusual if a left double-click is used. That is how virtually all file managers attempt to launch a file. I honestly don't think the developer would allow two ...

Initialize file rename by a single-click on the target file
In just about every other file manager I've used, it is possible to initialize a file rename by simply clicking once on the target file, rather than using a keyboard shortcut or right click and selecting "Rename". XP SP2 - Windows Explorer: http://cid-812ab23bbd2d54dd.skydrive.live.com/sel...

Re: Is FTP fully functional in 2009.02a?
FTP client works fine for me. do the following: STEP 1: Choose ftp drive from the toolbar STEP 2: Double Click on New FTP Connection file (that is viewed under ftp drive) a new window will popup, there you can configure all the ftp client parameters. I uploaded screen-dumps on: http://rapidshare.co...
