Also, when I said "fault tolerant", I could have also said "culture invariant", as I suppose that this may be the case with the example at hand 8)

Confirmed on multiple machines

To see if I could figure out what was wrong with the formatting, I took a screen capture of FreeCommander with the built-in capture feature, then did the same using IrfanView . Then, using the Gimp , I opened the image which was created by FreeCommander. I cropped everything but the title bar (and a...

Right-click on the folder, get Properties . In the Security tab, you will see who or what has rights over that folder. There is an Add button -- add your username and make sure that you have Read checked. Don't give yourself full control, that could allow malware to mess with it in your name. In Vi...

Possible problem with Bitmap formatting for screen captures

Hello Marek, This is a small issue, possibly even trivial and for all I know may be an issue only related to my Dev machine. I will try to confirm / deny this later by attempting to reproduce the problem on my server or another workstation. Anyway, when taking a screen capture in BMP format, it appe...

Once upon a time, my boss accused me of downloading malware. Something to the effect of "maybe you should check those files you've downloaded off of the web" (Who knows what his deal was - I think he thought I was trying to hack them or something...). Anyway, turns out upon confronting him...

Oops, just saw you are using XP Home. Well, that complicates things somewhat in regard to the folder permissions. But, the good news is that the AccessEnum utility should still enumerate the permissions. Although, changing them (if that is what is causing them to be "hidden"), is going to ...

Are the sub-folders marked with the "hidden" attribute?

Also, what are the permissions of the sub-folders?

You can try to use this utility to check the permissions of the sub-folders against that of the root folder:

The only difference between the laptop and desktop is that my desktop uses a Kensington (model K64325) trackball. I suppose it could be a function of their driver. But if so, it is undocumented, and it is still only happening with FC. F7 is the hot-key FreeCommander uses to create a new folder. Jus...

F5 for copy (uncheck "Auto rename target file" and/or "Always overwrite without prompt")

Same for move but the hot-key is F6.

Zip all of those $NtUninstall.* folders into one archive. I call mine NtUninstall_{MachineName}.zip I forgot, Then test that archive (make sure that it is not somehow corrupted - you never know.) Then, delete the other $NtUninstall folders that you just zipped up. FWIW, I have never needed to unins...

Re: Related Issue with Group Policy deployment of FreeComman

If the installation set the permissions on the .ini file to "modify" for users it would be good. What is the OS? Vista I presume? I am not sure what the problem it is you are having with this, so consider this part of my response more of a solicitation for information than anything. Also ...

This screenshot was taken this morning.

I probably should have restarted FreeCommander before I captured this.

Anyway, you get the idea...

Note that I said 'administrators' group. Not, the Administrator account. Also, when I create a new user, I immediately add them to the Administrators group (me and my wife, her brother - a few other accounts that I use for file permission purposes), then I add other groups (our surname, role based g...

1. FreeCommander can definitely access UNC paths 2. Alt+G will open the dialog box to enter an address (I have remapped this to CTRL+G - because I find it to be more intuitive) 3. This also works in the address bar at the top of the folder pane 4. I have three custom toolbars for separate grouping o...
