I'm not really trying to say I discovered a "bug". I never noticed it before. Once I did notice it, I experimented a little. My discovery wasn't long before the recent public update of FC XE. Coincidentally, I didn't get to install that upgrade until a few weeks ...

Are there any other FreeCommander configurations created by forum members here (or otherwise) that you're aware of?

This also has messed up my Windows 7 options for settings: FC tries now to run things like "Screen Resolution" or "Personalize"


It took me a while to realize that Control Panel (and others) don't really open. (Of course there are work arounds for that issue)

Has anyone settled on a solution ...

I just added the original, French to my registry. LOL. and as I was about to freak out when it didn't work, i thanked my morning coffee and remembered that my FreeCommander installation is not located at "C:\\Program Files..."

So, I corrected the following. This is Windows 11 Pro. Works fine for me ...

This works for me, but I like to use the "Favorite Tools" option for launching external apps. I suspect WinMerge (or any Diff utility) can be configured to work from there as well.
